Story #2: The Week of Peat is the story where distillery manager Ian Millar, spotted a weeks gap in the distillery schedule.? Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a recent trip to Islay, he ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln and build a peat burner on the side ?for, well, extra peatiness.? Described as a sweet, smoky and fragrant expression of The Balvenie, crafted by distilling peated malt for one week of the year, its bottled at 48.3 ABV and without chill?filtration.
